Early in Holy Week, a woman’s extravagant act of devotion at dinner causes a stir, met with judgment and discomfort. As we place ourselves in that room, we must ask: Are we moved by her generosity, or uneasy at Jesus’ mention of his death? Does our discomfort mask deeper fears? Jesus calls us to remember her—so what uncomfortable stories are we called to tell today?
